About The Herbfarm
The Herbfarm started in Fall City, WA in 1986 as one of the pioneers of farm to table dining in the United States. Now in Woodinville, WA, we serve ever evolving menus focused on our own 5-acre farm, artisans, farmers, foragers and producers from within our own community and beverages from the greater Pacific Northwest.
With a single service each night, we distill our 35-year history and ongoing education in PNW ingredients and service into what we truly believe is the most genuine expression of hospitality.
Your role at The Herbfarm
The Sommelier is responsible for a diverse selection of Pacific Northwest wines for the nightly tasting menu as well as a parallel offering of cellared, international labels and wines by the glass. The Sommelier is also responsible for managing the Beer and Non-Alcoholic Botanical Pairing as well. Throughout the year, there are special events that require specific pairings which are curated from around the world. All these selections are a collaborative effort between the Sommelier and Chef.
Specific Responsibilities
• Participate in nightly service. Your focus is on serving wine and beverages and helping guests navigate additional selections but also includes other service tasks, serving and presenting dishes, clearing tables and table maintenance.
• Nightly presentation with the Chef describing the menu and selected wines.
• Selecting wines for the nightly menu that are compelling and match our ethos.
• Maintain existing relationships with producers in the NW and help to develop new ones.
• Purchase and reconcile all beverage related inventory
• Maintaining annual sales revenues in line with historical norms.
• Physical and conceptual management of the wine cellar in conjunction with the general manager.

Specific Requirements
• Display Hospitality as a way of being, not just a career.
• Certification of skills and knowledge: Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET or International Sommelier Guild and a desire to continue education; either formally or through experience.
• Service specific experience and honed skill set.
• Have a comfortable approach to guest interactions putting guests at ease – whether they are well versed in wine or have a developing curiosity.
• A solution-oriented mindset; able to create opportunities in challenging situations. Able to prioritize tasks, people and responsibilities.
• Experience in purchasing: managing a schedule to accommodate tastings/procuring with other daily responsibilities.
• Schedule (for most weeks) is Wednesday daytime administrative day and evening Shifts Thursday – Sunday. Occasional extra services. Expect 40-48 hours per week.
Compensation
• Starting Salary $75,000+ commensurate with experience and skills that shorten the training/transition window.
